    Hi Denis I'm very eager to buy your courses, but I have a question. Do you go through all scales in your hanon excercies ? My problem is, I'm ok with C scale, but haven't practiced anything with black keys. So I'm wondering if your courses generally go through the black key, or just C just like the rest of the internet ? Thank you

      For most people yes, and I also have a video about pinky specifically on the channel, look for “last but not least pinky” keywords. But some people especially with small hands use a curved position. It needs a development of different muscles

    Denis Hi, I have a question: have you been secretly listening in when I was practicing this piece. I mean, I didn't hear a word I could disagree with. THIS is really a CARBON COPY of how AI INTUITIVELY experience and play this piece. Maybe after all there is ONE disagreement between us: AI LOVE to ACCENTUATE the EMBELLISHMENT at 7:35: a. because it feels so good 'to ring the bell and b. because it marvels the audience(wow: how does he do THAT). So instead of going 'soft', I by definition go 'loud'. Or maybe I should say: IT STIPULATES AUTHORITY( HE really KNOWS what he's doing)!!

    Just a small nitpick - as a 34 year old who clicked on this video, hearing you begin with ‘Hi Kids’ doesn’t come off very well. As you’re not even 40 yet, it comes across as patronising - I’m sure this isn’t intended though, which is why I’m pointing this out as a small critique as I’m sure you were unaware of this. Before I get hate replies, this is a constructive criticism on the presentation before I watch the rest of the video, nothing more. :)

      Thanks for the feedback! English is my fifth language, and I do my best to learn what causes irritation in native speakers due to cultural -traumas- oops I meant features, of course. 'Are you patronizing me? How dare you!' is certainly a sensitive topic in the western world, I was pointed out to this a couple of times already. I will try to avoid anything that can provoke this. But you know, it’s just impossible to say a word without offending someone nowadays🤷🏿‍♂️

    Very good and helpful video. I would know how can you play repeated notes with the same finger so fast??? I din't know how to reach it. I play the beginning rep. with 3-2 as a very very light trill, almost no articulation, and it works. But I would love learn how to play it with one finger. Thanks for your marvelous work.

    • @DenZhdanovPianist
      @DenZhdanovPianist 10 днів тому

      It’s not necessary, changing fingers is still better there. But in general, you can play repeated notes with the same finger if you’d stay glued to the key, feel the action intimately and operate around double repetition zone, meaning not diving to the bottom of the key, but not letting the key of going up completely either - somewhere in the middle

    Hello, how are you, a question :(, what happens is that a couple of months ago I suffered tendonitis in my arm and forearm, precisely due to poor technique and other reasons. Now I am resuming and correcting many things, but in the same way they enter doubts as I watch various videos on piano technique. For example, do I always use the weight of my arm because when I feel like I am using it, I feel my finger or hand with a little tension just from carrying the weight, so not always. Is the weight of the arm used? Or what? :(. I also remembered that when I played, the thing of "scratching" the keys happened to me many times, and I have always wondered why. I had a teacher who told me that the knuckles always They must stand out, and sometimes by forcing them to always stand out, I feel like I'm putting on tension. And the truth is I don't know which way to go, sometimes I feel like I'm playing well, without tension, and then boom, a little pain or fatigue in it. forearm. And the truth is I don't know if I can play the pieces that I loved so much again, I don't know if anyone after my injury can play well again :(. Thank you so much

    • @DenZhdanovPianist
      @DenZhdanovPianist 10 днів тому

      Hi Bryan, I am sorry to hear about your hand issues, and you have my fullest compassion! Unfortunately, it takes usually multiple months to recover, and the most important is not to push yourself, by playing not much and with good breaks between sessions. There are many universal aspects of piano technique, but many things are also individual, and I would suggest you to find a teacher who has an extensive knowledge about physiology and safety of piano playing. Taubman method specialists in this regard are usually pretty good. Quick fatigue is inevitable after injury, just respect and accept the current limitations and make decent breaks! The usage of the arm weight is necessary, but often people overthink it, by applying too much pressure on the keys, so try to be firm in touch but also very light, and remember that after an initial strike you can instantly offload most of the tension while holding a note.
